From April 2020 to December 2021, I walked almost daily along the Rideau Canal in downtown Ottawa. I noticed an environment buzzing with activity during abnormal times that had become the “new normal.” Under the shadows of pandemic, environmental and social concerns, I began in June 2020 to document my observations of fragility, survival, resilience and isolation, revealing tensions between nature and culture. That’s where this project began.
