From April 2020 to December 2021, I walked almost daily along the Rideau Canal in downtown Ottawa. I noticed an environment buzzing with activity during abnormal times that had become the “new normal.” Under the shadows of pandemic, environmental and social concerns, I began in June 2020 to document my observations of fragility, survival, resilience and isolation, revealing tensions between nature and culture. That’s where this project began.




Twenty-four photographic and textual high-quality pigment inkjet prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Book and Album paper, an envelop made of Savoy paper contains approx. 300 straight pins, all bound in a folder-box of Johannot rag paper, measuring 22.8 x 15.2 x 2.5 cm when closed, tied with heavy linen thread.
This work is comprised of twenty-four photographic and textual prints, many in folds, with suggestions on how to display them using the supplied straight pins, all contained in a folder-box tied with heavy thread. The texts, in English and in French, describe what the photographs cannot..

Exhibition at the National Arts Centre, Ottawa, May 1 to November 30, 2026, in two public spaces: the Hon. Bill Morneau & Nancy McCain Gallery (Elgin Street level) and the Heather Edwards Gallery (canal level). Each installation includes prints pinned in a large square shadow box juxtaposed to six larger framed prints taken from the series confinement States, all chosen to illustrate the changing seasons: spring summer from May 1 to July 6, summer fall from July 7 to September 14, and fall winter from September 15 to November 30, 2026.
