The photographs taken to create these works are of bodies of water of the St. Lawrence Seaway and of lakes in Northeastern Ontario. The photos were originally used in the artist's book de mère en mer / de mer, de mère (2018, 2022) and the installation De mère en mer : Lost in Translation (2021). In both of these works, the images are accompanied by a short, intimate narrative text in French, which in the installation is juxtaposed with another in English that interprets the story of travel, impressions, memories, the loss of a mother and those before her, around the waters. Excerpts from this text are use for the titles of these works.
